The Product Analytics and Experimentation team sits within the Data & Analytics
directorate in the Technology department. Our mission is to deliver insightful and
actionable data through reporting, analysis, and experimentation; with a focus on
establishing best-practice processes and enabling data-driven decision making
across all supported product teams. The Tesco Groceries & Clubcard app and
website, support centre, and store tills are some of the digital products
supported by our team.

You will be responsible for
This role will report into the Senior Optimisation Analyst. While specific
responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business,
the following provides an overview of the role’s key responsibilities:
Collaborating with Product Managers, Optimisation Managers, and Digital
Analysts to conduct AB tests, and providing analysis of results to deliver
actionable recommendations that can be applied to improve our digital
products and the customer experience.
- Performing analyses of customer behaviour within experimentation using a
variety of data sources and tools (SQL Hive / Spark, Python, Alteryx, Adobe
Analytics) and presenting insights in a simple and engaging way to a range of
audiences including Product, UX, and Engineering.
- Ensuring the reliability of our test results by applying appropriate statistical
testing methods to our test data.
- Working closely with the Analytics Capabilities and Digital Analytics teams to
ensure tracking and means of measurement is in place for our AB tests.
- Working with the finance team to forecast accurate and representative
financial benefits.
- Learning new analytics techniques and tools rapidly with the support of the
Senior Analysts and put these skills into practice.
- Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and
due diligence.
You will need
Experience working with and analysing data from multiple sources to
generate meaningful insights.
- The ability to explain complex information clearly and effectively to
stakeholders with varying levels of data understanding.
- A good understanding of A/B testing principles, and an understanding of
optimisation and its business value.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach, with the ability to plan your work
and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working
relationships across teams and with senior stakeholders.
- Experience querying data with SQL
Other beneficial (but not essential) experience includes:
- Exposure to A/B testing tools.
- Familiarity with web analytics tools such as Adobe Analytics, Google
Analytics, or similar.
- Relevant experience in a quantitative discipline, or a similar university
degree of 2:1 or higher.
