INTERNATIONAL REMOVAL PORTER PACKER TRANSIT VAN DRIVER

Substantial amount of working away from base and subsidence allowance given. European travel a possibility.
30 hours contract initially (flexible shifts Monday to Saturday) with the opportunity of 45 hours full time for the right worker and HGV training and salary upgrade for the right worker after probation period.
Overview
To be a key member of the removal team reporting to the Driver Foreman. To support the team ensuring the home removal job is completed on time and to the customer’s satisfaction. The Removal Transit Van Driver and Porter Packer will pack customer items and or act as a porter. In some circumstances this may be unsupervised therefore they must use their initiative to foresee any potential problems and solve them as they arise.

Main Responsibilities
· Driving transit van
· Act as customer facing representative of the company
· Lift and manoeuvre furniture and effects safely
· To protect furniture as required with packing materials
· To pack personal effects into suitable cartons with protection
· Write inventories of goods moved / shipped
· Complete paperwork for jobs correctly
· Act as banksman for vehicle driver
· To act and behave in accordance with Health and Safety Requirements
· Be able to work aware from home within the UK
· Be able to work away from home within Europe
· To drive company transit van or car, as required
Personal Data
· Physically fit
· Lives local to branch
· Legible handwriting and good verbal communication skills
Education & Training
· Valid UK driving licence
· GSCE Maths and English or equivalent standard desirable.
· Attended Basic Practical Course and passed assessment
· Attended Advanced Packing Skills course passed assessment desirable.
· Attended Fork Lift Truck training (desirable)
Practical Knowledge & Experience
· Valid UK driving licence
· Confident and courteous handling of customers
· Good local geographic knowledge
· Knowledge and compliance of Working Time Regulations
· Ensuring all Company and legal instructions are complied with at all times
· Government or other association organization security cleared (desirable where applicable)
· Understanding of Health & Safety requirements / use of PPE
· Manual Handling Training / Experience
Skills & Personal Attributes
· Valid UK driving licence
· High personal standards of appearance
· Co-operative and flexible (to work any 5 out of 7 days)
· Polite and courteous
· Have a clean disciplinary record for the previous 12 months
· Able to work efficiently unsupervised
· Conscientious attitude towards work.

· Weekend working as directed.
Further information
The scope of the job is for 5-6 days work each week with immediate start.
· Valid UK driving licence required
The work involves packing and protecting personal effects and furniture, loading / handling the effects onto shipping containers, and unloading goods from shipping containers into customer home addresses and unpacking and unwrapping furniture. On the job trading will be provided along with Uniform and PPE.
Salary: Lots of overtime available working 5 days one week then 6 days the next week.
Subsistence allowance working away from base paid tax free in advance at £40 per night.
Pay: £10.85-£12.83 per hour
