Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Bricklayers Assistant to support our skilled masonry team on various construction projects. This role involves assisting with bricklaying and related tasks, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to safety standards. Duties
- Assist bricklayers with preparing materials and setting up work areas
- Handle hand tools such as trowels, levels, and chisels to support bricklaying activities
- Mix mortar and prepare bricks or blocks for laying
- Support the movement and organisation of masonry materials using power tools and manual handling equipment
- Help with the installation of bricks, blocks, or stones according to specifications
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by clearing debris and ensuring tools are stored correctly
- Assist with minor carpentry or roofing tasks as required on-site
- Follow health and safety protocols at all times during construction activities
Skills
- Experience or familiarity with hand tools used in masonry and construction work
- Basic knowledge of bricklaying techniques and masonry principles
- Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively
- Understanding of carpentry, roofing, or welding is advantageous but not essential
- Good organisational skills with an eye for detail
- Physical fitness to perform manual labour, including lifting heavy materials and standing for extended periods
- Willingness to learn new skills and work collaboratively within a team
