Summary

Inspire and transform learning with us at Harris Science Academy East London. We are currently looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to work collaboratively with teaching staff to improve the outcomes of students with a variety of needs, including those with EHCPs.

The actual salary for this role will be £27,588-£28,800 (37.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year ).

Main Areas of Responsibility

Your responsibilities will include:

Working collaboratively with the class teacher and SEN team to support student progress
Supporting students with SEN to engage positively in learning and the classroom environment
Demonstrating a proactive approach to supporting all students
Understanding and responding to a range of student needs
Implementing Quality First Teaching and SEN strategies within the Assess, Plan, Do, Review framework
Maintaining and contributing to Student SEN Profiles as effective working documents
Differentiating support to meet individual needs while promoting student independence
Engaging in CPD opportunities within the SEN department and wider academy
Supporting the wider class group as appropriate
Applying subject knowledge to support teaching and learning effectively
Using behaviour management strategies consistently in line with academy policies

Qualifications & Experience

We would like to hear from you if you have:

Qualifications to degree standard or equivalent
An excellent standard of written and spoken English
Previous experience of supporting learning of students
Basic knowledge of SEND and learning barriers
Some knowledge of working with young people with challenging behaviour
Knowledge of some of the social issues facing students from disadvantaged backgrounds
A good level of computer literacy, including Microsoft packages
Experience working with young people in an educational or training environment
Experience of establishing and maintaining working relationships with a range of people
