We're looking for fun, enthusiastic and reliable Tutors who can teaching singing and piano to join the Anthem Music School team, delivering music tuition within our partner secondary schools.
These roles involve teaching students of varying ages and abilities, including supporting GCSE Music students with their individual and ensemble performance examinations. Whether it's helping a student prepare their exam pieces, introducing them to a new musical style or building their confidence as a performer, we're looking for teachers who love helping young people discover what they're capable of.
Current Opportunities
- Two schools located within the Preston area – approximately two hours of tuition at each location, with the potential for additional teaching hours from September following the new Year 7 intake.
We're ideally looking for one tutor who would enjoy taking ownership of both schools, however we're equally happy to split the tuition between multiple teachers for the right candidates.
All teaching takes place during the school day and during term time. Whilst there is some flexibility around teaching days, we're looking for teachers who can reliably commit to their agreed timetable throughout the academic year. Consistency is incredibly important to both our students and partner schools.
There may also be opportunities for additional teaching and cover work across Anthem Music School as we continue to grow.
About the Role
No two students are the same and we don't believe their lessons should be either.
We're looking for teachers who can tailor their lessons to each student's interests and musical tastes whilst also helping them discover new music, styles and techniques that will challenge and inspire them. One student may be working towards their GCSE performance exam whilst another simply needs a confidence boost before performing in assembly.
We're passionate about creating engaging lessons that students genuinely look forward to attending.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering high-quality singing and piano tuition within our partner secondary schools.
- Supporting GCSE Music students with their individual and ensemble performance examinations.
- Planning engaging lessons tailored to each student's interests, goals and abilities.
- Writing weekly lesson notes following each lesson.
- Building positive relationships with students, school staff and the Anthem team.
- Communicating effectively regarding absences, timetable changes and student progress.
- Working flexibly around the needs of our partner schools where required.
- Encouraging students to broaden their musical horizons through exciting and varied repertoire choices.
- Reliably attending and delivering all agreed teaching commitments throughout term time.
We're Looking For Somebody Who:
- Is an accomplished singer and pianist (Grade 8 or equivalent experience in at least one discipline preferred).
- Has experience teaching children and young people.
- Is confident supporting students preparing for GCSE Music performance examinations (or is willing to learn).
- Is organised, reliable and communicates exceptionally well.
- Can commit to teaching consistently throughout term time.
- Understands that working within schools occasionally requires flexibility and adaptability.
- Enjoys tailoring lessons to each student's interests, musical tastes and aspirations.
- Is passionate about introducing students to new music and encouraging them to step outside of their comfort zone.
- Is proactive in writing weekly lesson notes and communicating student progress.
- Shares our values of creating fun, engaging and inspiring musical experiences for every student.
We're looking for teachers who don't simply teach scales and exam pieces, but who genuinely invest in helping young people grow in confidence and develop a lifelong love of music.
Essential Requirements
- Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- Public Liability Insurance.
- Safeguarding Level 1 Training (or willingness to complete this before commencing work).
- The right to work in the UK.
- Ability to travel to the relevant school locations.
