Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Grammar School 11+ Exam Specialist Tutor to inspire and guide young learners through the challenging journey of preparing for grammar school entrance exams. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ academic futures by delivering engaging, tailored tutoring sessions that build confidence and mastery in key areas such as verbal reasoning, mathematics, English comprehension, and writing skills. Duties
- Deliver dynamic and personalized tutoring sessions focused on the 11+ exam content, including verbal reasoning, mathematics, English comprehension and writing techniques
- Assess each student’s strengths and areas for improvement to develop customized learning plans that target specific needs
- Prepare students for exam formats by practicing timed exercises, mock tests and review sessions to build exam confidence and strategies
- Foster a supportive and encouraging atmosphere that motivates students to engage actively in their learning journey
- Track student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback to parents or guardians and adjusting teaching methods accordingly
- Stay current with the latest 11+ exam requirements and curriculum changes to ensure effective preparation strategies
- Maintain organized records of lessons, student progress, and tailored plans to ensure consistency and accountability
Requirements
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching children, particularly in preparing students for grammar school entrance exams in South Manchester and other parts of Greater Manchester.
- Strong knowledge of 11+ exam content areas including verbal reasoning, mathematics, English comprehension and writing skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and engagingly
- Experience working with children with diverse learning needs or in special education settings is highly desirable
- Enthusiastic, patient and motivated to inspire young learners to reach their full potential
- Ability to create a positive learning environment that encourages confidence and academic growth
- Relevant qualifications in education or tutoring are preferred but not mandatory
