As the business continues to grow, we are investing in our finance function and are looking for an ambitious individual to join our team.
This role is ideally suited to someone with 1–2 years’ finance experience who is keen to develop a career in management accounting. You will receive exposure to a broad range of financial activities, supported by experienced finance professionals and a structured study support programme.
The Role
You will support the day-to-day running of the finance function while gaining hands-on experience across management accounts, financial reporting, underwriting reporting and operational finance. Working closely with the Financial Controller, you will develop both your technical accounting knowledge and commercial understanding in a fast-paced, growing business.
Key Responsibilities
- Process supplier invoices and reconcile supplier accounts.
- Manage the finance inbox and respond to supplier queries.
- Prepare supplier payment runs and support cash management.
- Assist with compiling financial and underwriting data, identifying discrepancies where appropriate.
- Produce regular operational and underwriting reports.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Prepare journals, accruals and prepayments.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and support the month-end close.
- Investigate variances and assist with financial reporting.
- Support continuous improvement of finance processes and reporting.
- Provide cover across the finance function during periods of annual leave.
- Ad hoc duties as required by the Financial Controller and CFO
About You
We are looking for someone with the aptitude and ambition to develop, rather than someone who already has extensive management accounting experience.
- 1–2 years’ experience within a finance or accounting role.
- Studying towards, or intending to study, ACCA, CIMA or ACA.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach with a willingness to learn.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Good communication skills and the confidence to ask questions.
- Strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS or equivalent).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Desirable Experience
- Accounts payable and accounts receivable experience
- Exposure to month-end processes.
- Journals, accruals and reconciliations.
- Management accounts support.
- Experience using accounting systems.
- Insurance or financial services experience (beneficial but not essential).
