Graham is part of the UK's largest independent plumbing, heating and bathroom merchants, with over 310 sites nationwide. Our Reading site is one of our busiest locations, supplying plumbing, heating and bathroom products to trade professionals, contractors and developers across a wide range of residential and commercial projects.
We're looking for an Estimator to join our commercial team, helping us deliver accurate project quotations while converting more opportunities into successful orders.
Whether you're already working as an Estimator or you're looking to move into estimating from Contracts Management, Internal Sales, Project Sales or another commercial role within a plumbing, heating and bathroom merchant, we'd love to hear from you.
The Role
As our Estimator, you'll play a key role in managing project enquiries from initial enquiry through to securing the order.
You'll review customer requirements, drawings and specifications before producing accurate, commercially competitive quotations for plumbing, heating and bathroom projects. Working closely with customers, suppliers and our sales team, you'll ensure projects are priced correctly, quotations are turned around efficiently and opportunities don't get left sitting in a backlog.
This is more than simply preparing quotations. You'll take ownership of enquiries, proactively follow up quotes, resolve pricing queries and build strong relationships with customers to maximise quote conversion while maintaining profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Produce accurate quotations and estimates for plumbing, heating and bathroom projects.- Review drawings, specifications and customer requirements to ensure accurate project pricing.
- Calculate material quantities and prepare commercially competitive quotations.
- Obtain supplier pricing and negotiate where appropriate.
- Follow up quotations with customers to maximise conversion into orders.
- Work closely with the sales team to ensure pricing remains competitive while protecting profitability.
- Build strong relationships with contractors, developers, installers and trade customers.
- Identify pricing errors, commercial risks and opportunities before quotations are issued.
- Manage multiple live enquiries while meeting customer deadlines.
- Maintain accurate quotation records and project information using internal systems.
- Support the wider team with commercial pricing decisions and project opportunities.
About You
We're looking for someone with strong commercial awareness, excellent attention to detail and an interest in project pricing.

You'll ideally have:
- Experience within a plumbing, heating and bathroom merchant, construction or contracts environment.
- Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to interpret technical drawings and project specifications, or the willingness to learn.
- A commercial mindset with an interest in project pricing and winning business.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to build relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple enquiries at once.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
- Previous estimating experience is an advantage, but it isn't essential.
