Teacher of Piano (Visiting Music Teacher)

Bradfield College is seeking to appoint an outstanding Teacher of Piano (Visiting Music Teacher) to join our thriving Music Department. Music has been at the heart of Bradfield College since its foundation and continues to play a defining role in the life of the school. We are seeking an exceptional piano teacher who shares our belief that music education extends beyond the weekly lesson. The successful candidate will join a collaborative and forward-looking department that believes music should be both ambitious and inclusive, nurturing accomplished musicians while helping every pupil discover a lifelong appreciation of music.
The Role
The successful candidate will:
- Teach individual piano lessons to pupils aged 13–18 across the full range of abilities.
- Inspire and motivate pupils, from those learning for enjoyment to those preparing for examinations, diplomas and conservatoire auditions.
- Prepare pupils for concerts, examinations, competitions and other performance opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Music, Head of Instrumental Studies and fellow Visiting Music Teachers to support pupils' musical development.
- Encourage pupils to participate fully in the musical life of the College, including ensembles, concerts and masterclasses.
- Maintain accurate lesson registers and communicate regularly with the Music Department regarding pupil progress.
- Write two reports each academic year and attend the annual virtual parents' meeting.
- Attend the annual Visiting Music Teacher INSET day.
- Contribute, where appropriate, to concerts, workshops and other departmental initiatives.

The successful candidate will:
- Be an outstanding pianist and musician with an active professional profile or equivalent experience.
- Have significant experience of teaching pupils across a wide range of abilities.
- Be able to inspire pupils through imaginative, engaging and well-structured teaching.
- Be a genuine team player who enjoys working collaboratively within a large and ambitious music department.
- Be open-minded, embracing a broad range of musical styles, educational approaches and performance opportunities.
- Possess excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the highest standards of musical education.
- Understand and support the ethos of Bradfield College.

Bradfield is a Steinway School with exceptional musical facilities, including a recently refurbished Music Hall, a fleet of Steinway pianos, a state-of-the-art Mac Suite, dedicated recording facilities, and outstanding performance spaces including the College Chapel and the iconic Greek Theatre.
