A Saw Operative / Stores Operative will report to the Materials Manager and be primarily responsible for the safe and efficient cutting of linear materials to production requirements, ensuring materials are processed accurately and on time. During periods when there are no cutting requirements, or when the saw can be safely left unattended, the employee will support the Stores Department in loading and unloading vehicles, stock movements, goods receiving, material control and other warehouse activities as directed by the Materials Manager or Stores Supervisor.
What you'll be doing:
A Stores Operative will operate within the stores department at the site with prime responsibility to the stores department. The employee will be able to competently carry out the following:
Safely operate saw equipment in accordance with company procedures and training.
Interpret production documentation, drawings, cut lists and work orders.
Measure, mark and cut linear materials accurately to specified lengths and tolerances.
Ensure materials are correctly identified and traceable throughout the cutting process.
Carry out routine operator maintenance, cleaning and basic inspections of saw equipment.
Report any machine faults, defects or safety concerns immediately.
Minimise material waste through efficient cutting practices.
During periods when cutting duties are not required, support Stores operations including loading and offloading wagons, movement of materials, goods inward inspections, stock transactions on D365, picking, packing and stock control activities.
Any other reasonable duties as requested by the Materials Manager or Warehouse Supervisor. A Stores Operative may from time to time be expected to learn new skills in order to keep pace with the evolution of technology and/or new equipment, etc. within the business.
Who we are looking for:
Experience operating industrial saws, cutting equipment or similar machinery is desirable.
Experience within a manufacturing, production or warehouse environment preferred.
Employees should hold, or be capable of obtaining, licences required to operate materials handling equipment used on site.
Work unsupervised at times
