Gaming Van Driver & Party Host – Weekend Work Immediate Start Available
Streetside Gaming is looking for a reliable, confident and enthusiastic Gaming Van Driver & Party Host to join our team.
This is a hands-on weekend role combining driving, customer service, gaming and hosting children’s parties and events across Essex and Suffolk.
Our mobile gaming bus is packed with modern consoles, virtual reality, racing simulators, gaming PCs and hundreds of games. We attend birthday parties, school events, community events and celebrations throughout the year.

- Starting pay of £14.00 per hour
- Rising to £15.00 per hour following successful completion of the probationary period

This is a self-employed position, so you will be responsible for declaring your earnings and arranging your own tax and National Insurance where applicable.
What You'll Be Doing
Your day will normally involve:
- Collecting the gaming vehicle before your first booking
- Driving a long-wheelbase vehicle to customer locations across Essex and Suffolk
- Arriving around 30 minutes before each booking to prepare the gaming bus
- Welcoming customers, parents and children
- Hosting gaming parties, mainly for children aged 6–12
- Helping players use Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, PC gaming, VR and other equipment
- Keeping the party organised, enjoyable and running to time
- Creating a fun, energetic and welcoming atmosphere
- Dealing confidently and professionally with customers
- Troubleshooting simple gaming or technical issues where required
- Packing away and preparing the vehicle between bookings
Most individual parties last between 90 minutes and 2 hours, although a typical weekend shift may include several bookings.
Full training will be provided.
Working Hours
We are primarily looking for someone available at weekends.
Saturdays: Typically 7–9 hours
Sundays: Typically 7–9 hours
Weekdays: Optional, usually 3–5 hours when work is available
Hours will vary depending on bookings and travel.
We can consider different working arrangements, including every weekend, alternate weekends or specific regular days.
Requirements
To apply, you must:
- Be 25 years old or over due to vehicle insurance requirements
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Have held your licence for at least 5 years
- Have at least 1 year's experience driving a long-wheelbase van or similarly sized vehicle
- Be confident manoeuvring and parking a larger vehicle
- Have a good understanding of modern gaming consoles and online gaming
- Be comfortable working with groups of children
- Be friendly, outgoing and confident speaking with children, parents and customers
- Be reliable, punctual and able to work independently
- Be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check before starting
Experience
Previous experience in any of the following would be particularly useful:
- Long-wheelbase van driving
- Gaming or gaming technology
- Children’s parties or entertainment
- Working with children
- Events or attractions
- Customer-facing roles
- Hospitality or leisure
You do not need previous professional experience working with children, but you must be comfortable supervising and interacting with groups of children in a party environment.
Important
This role is very different from a standard delivery-driving position.
We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable driving a large vehicle, speaking with customers and getting involved in the gaming party experience.
