Trades Apprenticeships 2026 - Plasterer
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Plasterer to join our Properties Team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience whilst working towards a recognised Plastering Apprenticeship qualification.
You will support the delivery of high-quality repairs and maintenance services across Salix Homes' property portfolio. You will learn the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to become a qualified plasterer, whilst helping to ensure our customers' homes are safe, well-maintained and of a high standard.
The role – What You'll be doing
- Assist with plastering, skimming, rendering, patching and associated making-good works.
- Work alongside experienced tradespeople on reactive repairs and planned maintenance programmes.
- Carry out dynamic risk assessments and complete job documentation using a PDA.
- Identify and report any property issues observed during visits, including damp and mould concerns.
- Assist with ordering materials and maintaining tools and equipment.
- Work in accordance with all Health and Safety legislation, policies and procedures.
- Attend and successfully complete all apprenticeship training, assessments and college requirements.
- Deliver excellent customer service when working in customers' homes.
- Promote Salix Homes' values and contribute to a positive safeguarding culture at all times.
What we're looking for
- A positive attitude and genuine enthusiasm for learning a skilled trade.
- Commitment to completing a Plastering Apprenticeship qualification.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instruction from supervisors and mentors.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach when interacting with customers.
- Commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
Flexible and reliable approach to work.
- Awareness of Health and Safety within a construction or trades environment (desirable).
- Basic knowledge of plastering tools, materials and techniques (desirable but not essential as full training will be provided).
- Previous exposure to construction, maintenance, DIY or practical work is advantageous but not essential.
- Full UK driving licence is desirable.

Apprenticeship Pay:
- Living Wage wage salary: £13.45 per hour
