At STERIS Instrument Processing we are experts in surgical instrument sterilisation. We offer on and offsite re-processing, alongside reliable instrument maintenance solutions. We are currently recruiting for a Sterile Services Technician vacancy. This is an excellent opportunity to join the business at an entry-level and receive world-class training to get you on to a defined career pathway.

About You

Training and Working Pattern

12 weeks training, the first few weeks you will work on Mon - Weds, 9am - 6pm (Weds finish at 530pm), thereafter, training will continue during your regular shift hours which will be;
Sat & Sun, 7am - 8pm (25 hours per week)

What you will do

Following a highly regulated end to end sterilization/decontamination process on surgical instruments that have been used in operations in local NHS and private hospitals, to ensure they can be used again safely for the next patient.
Ensuring the effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, surgical instruments, and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
Rigorously checking, washing, laying up and packing sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
Safely operating and monitoring machines and equipment (washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilisers) effectively.
Ensuring that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).
Ensuring that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust’s appointed person.

Access to a Level 2 Healthcare Science Assistant Apprenticeship! This is a 12-15 month fully funded programme studying good scientific practice for the Healthcare profession! It is universally applicable outside of STERIS! Completed on the job, you are given 20% of your working hours to study towards the qualification. Further apprenticeships are available throughout the course of your career!

Required Experience

Educated to a good general standard with demonstrable verbal and numerical abilities.
