Rehabilitation Assistant
Location: Seascale
Hours: 2 x Part Time Contracts
Working Pattern:
The rota will be shared between two members of staff and will consist of:
- Tuesday: 06:30 – 13:30 or 13:30 – 20:30
- Wednesday: 06:30 – 18:00
- Thursday: 06:30 – 18:00
- One Saturday or Sunday per month: 07:00 – 20:30 (worked on a rotational basis)
Each successful candidate will typically work one full day, one half day and one weekend day per month,
Salary:
- £14 per hour weekdays
- £14.50 per hour on weekends
About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, motivated and proactive Rehabilitation Assistant to join a specialist support package, working alongside an individual who is progressing through a rehabilitation journey following a traumatic brain injury.
This is a rewarding opportunity to play a meaningful role in supporting someone to achieve their rehabilitation goals, maximise independence, and improve their quality of life. Working collaboratively with the individual, their family, and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will help implement therapeutic strategies and support progress towards agreed outcomes and milestones.

The successful candidate will provide structured, person-centred support that promotes independence, confidence, skill development and community engagement, whilst encouraging the individual to take an active role in their own rehabilitation journey.
Key Responsibilities
As a Rehabilitation Assistant, your role will include supporting an individual to work towards personalised rehabilitation goals and objectives, specifically:
- Prompting for safe support for every day tasks and to increase risk awareness.
- Building weekly routines.
- Initiating / prompting for daily medication.
- Initiating / prompting daily tasks, cleaning / washing / meals / walking the dog / sorting Shetland pony out / therapy support / personal care / food shop / gardening / visiting friends & family / supporting with hobbies.
- Attending appointments / attending therapy sessions
- Assisting in numeracy and writing
- Building on physical progression and cognition, particularly initiation.
- Supporting in opening and expanding the persons experiences.
- Supporting on re-building social understanding, and providing guidance where needed.
- Providing emotional support and engaging in meaningful conversations.
- Supporting getting back into work environments.
- Support in therapy sessions (OT / Speech and Language / Physio / Hydro pool) and working with therapy that is handed over daily.
Who We Are Looking For
We recognise that excellent Rehabilitation Assistants come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Whilst previous rehabilitation experience would be beneficial, we are equally interested in candidates who can demonstrate relevant transferable skills and a genuine passion for supporting others to achieve their potential.
You may have experience within:
- Health and Social Care
- Occupational Therapy support
- Psychology or Mental Health services
- Physiotherapy support
- Nursing or Healthcare settings
- Community Support Services
- Sports Coaching
- Youth Work
- Rehabilitation Services
- Voluntary or Charity Sector roles
Most importantly, we are looking for individuals who can demonstrate:

- Patience, empathy and emotional intelligence

Ideal Qualifications and Experience
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- Experience supporting individuals with neurological conditions brain injuries or stroke.
- Experience supporting individuals with neurological conditions brain injuries or stroke.
- Experience working within rehabilitation or recovery-focused environments
- Relevant qualifications in Health & Social Care, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Physiotherapy or related disciplines
- Experience supporting individuals to achieve goals and develop independence
- Experience in Focal Seizures, shunts and signs of something gone wrong.
- Right side partially sighted.
- Executive dysfunction and dysexecutive syndrome.
- Spasticity in muscles.
Full training will be provided for the successful candidate but you must be able to drive
