About Lago Homecare
Lago Homecare is an independent, CQC-registered domiciliary care provider delivering exceptional, person-centred care to older adults, people living with dementia, and those with complex needs. We hold ourselves to the highest standards.
We are a values-driven team and we know that great care starts with great carers. That is why we invest seriously in the people who work for us – in your development, your wellbeing, and your career. This role is part of that: a genuine leadership step for carers ready to take on more.
We Value Work-Life Balance
We are fully transparent about working patterns: this role requires flexibility across all 7 days of the week, including regular weekends, as well as an appropriate split between office-based and field-based duties. However, we believe that if you work hard for us, we work hard for you in return.
The Role
Senior Carer & Medication Champion is a step up from front-line care delivery into team leadership and medication safety ownership. You will combine hands-on, person-centred care with mentoring less experienced carers, conducting medication audits, and acting as Lago Homecare's designated lead for medication safety in the field – providing direct assurance to our Registered Manager and a clear evidence trail against CQC's Safe and Effective key questions.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering safe, person-centred personal care, companionship and complex/dementia care support
- Guiding, mentoring and supporting new and less experienced carers through shadowing and constructive feedback
- Carrying out competency observations and contributing to quality reviews of care delivery
- Planning and conducting scheduled and unannounced medication audits – MAR chart accuracy, storage, stock reconciliation and disposal records
- Identifying trends and risks from audit findings and reporting these with recommendations
- Promoting accurate, timely MAR chart completion and escalating discrepancies without delay
- Supporting colleagues' medication competency through observation and guidance
- Reporting medication errors, missed doses and near misses through our incident process
- Liaising with GPs, pharmacists and community nurses on medication queries where appropriate
- Participating in an on-call rota, providing professional guidance and escalating appropriately
- Communicating changes in service users' needs, risks or circumstances to the Registered Manager
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrable experience as a carer in a homecare, domiciliary or community care setting
- Current competence in safe medication administration, with willingness to develop into a medication leadership and audit role

- Right to work in the United Kingdom (we are unable to offer sponsorship)
- Satisfactory Enhanced DBS check (Adults' Barred List)
