Overview
CM Mechanical Services LTD based in Harworth, Doncaster are seeking a highly skilled and motivated HGV Fitter to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and reliability of 10 Scania and Volvo heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and 10 trailers including step frames and low loaders. Your expertise will help keep our fleet operational, minimizing downtime and supporting our commitment to excellent service delivery. You will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance and repair of our fleet and customers truck and trailer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and comprehensive diagnostics on HGVs and trailers. have proven experience working on Volvo and Scania.
- Perform repairs and maintenance tasks utilizing hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to restore vehicles to optimal condition.
- Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills. Interpret technical schematics and wiring diagrams to troubleshoot electrical systems and implement effective repairs.
- Carry out welding, soldering, and metal fabrication work to repair or modify vehicle components as needed.
- Assemble new parts or equipment using mechanical knowledge and assembly skills to ensure proper fit and function.
- Maintain detailed records of all repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used for compliance and future reference.
- Support equipment repair projects with a focus on safety, efficiency, and quality standards while adhering to health and safety regulations.
Experience
- Proven experience working as an HGV fitter on Volvo and Scania and heavy vehicle maintenance role with a strong background in mechanical repairs.
- Demonstrated fault finding and diagnostic skills with the ability to read schematics and troubleshoot wiring issues effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Skilled in fabrication, welding, soldering, and the use of hand tools and power tools for vehicle repair tasks.
- Experience with equipment maintenance, repair procedures, and preventative maintenance programs.
- Ability to lift heavy components safely during repairs while maintaining a focus on safety protocols.
- Excellent customer service skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving in a team environment.
- Full UK driving licence (HGV licence advantageous).
