Full job description

Job Overview
Metropolitan Security Services are seeking a number of vigilant and dedicated Store Detectives to join our security team. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring store premises to prevent theft, ensure safety, and maintain a secure shopping environment. This role offers an opportunity to utilise surveillance skills and contribute to the safety of staff and customers alike. The position is paid and requires a proactive approach to security management.

Responsibilities

Conduct regular surveillance of store areas using CCTV equipment and physical patrols to deter theft and identify suspicious activity.
Monitor customer and staff behaviour discreetly, ensuring adherence to store policies.
Write detailed reports on incidents, suspicious activities, or security breaches accurately and promptly.
Respond appropriately to emergencies, including administering first aid when necessary, until professional help arrives.
Collaborate with store management and law enforcement agencies during investigations or incidents.
Maintain a visible presence in key areas of the store to promote safety and security awareness among staff and customers.

Requirements

Proven experience in surveillance, security, or related fields is preferred.
Strong report writing skills with attention to detail.
First aid certification or the willingness to obtain training prior to employment.
Excellent observational skills with the ability to recognise potential security threats swiftly.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations professionally.
Good organisational skills and the ability to document incidents clearly and accurately.
Must be physically fit, alert, and able to work flexible hours as required by the store’s operational hours. This role is ideal for individuals committed to ensuring a safe shopping environment through proactive security measures and attentive surveillance practices.

Pay: £14.50 per hour
