Welder / Fabricator
Location: Viking Engineering Ltd, Southampton, SO14 3EW

Pay:
- PAYE: Up to £20.00 per hour
- CIS Subcontractor: Up to £25.00 per hour
- Pay is negotiable depending on experience and ability.

The Role
The successful candidate will be involved in the manufacture of structural steelwork and bespoke fabrications for a wide range of projects.
The role is primarily workshop based and consists mainly of flux-cored and solid wire MIG welding, along with fabrication duties.
Key Responsibilities
- MIG welding using flux-cored and solid wire processes.
- Welding to a coded standard.
- Fabricating structural steelwork and bespoke metalwork.
- Reading and interpreting engineering and fabrication drawings.
- Using hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Operating band saws, grinders, plasma cutting equipment and oxy-acetylene equipment when required.
- Working to a high standard of quality while maintaining a safe and tidy working environment.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a Welder/Fabricator.
- Ability to weld to a coded standard.
- Strong MIG welding experience.
- Ability to read and work from technical drawings.
- Good fabrication skills.
- Reliable, motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Skills
- Previous welding codings (current or expired).
- Experience with MMA (Stick) welding.
- Experience with TIG welding.
- Experience working on structural steel projects.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- 7:00am – 3:30pm
- Minimum 40-hour working week
- Overtime available
