Graduate Design Engineer – Engineering & Automation

Cobots Online is looking for a Graduate Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, designing bespoke automation equipment and collaborative robot (cobot) solutions for customers across a wide range of industries.

You'll receive hands-on training, mentorship, and the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge while contributing to projects from concept through to manufacture, installation, and commissioning.

What You'll Be Doing

Assisting with the design of bespoke mechanical components, fixtures, and automation systems using SolidWorks.
Producing 3D CAD models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and assembly drawings.
Supporting Design Engineers throughout the design and development process.
Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Assisting with prototype builds, testing, and continuous design improvements.
Liaising with manufacturing and assembly teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
Maintaining engineering documentation and design records.
Learning about collaborative robots (cobots), automation systems, and engineering best practices.

What We're Looking For

Essential

Degree (or expected degree) in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience using SolidWorks and confidence in producing 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
Strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Enthusiasm for engineering, automation, and innovative technology.

Desirable

Placement year or internship within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, sheet metal, or assembly.
Experience producing engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Familiarity with engineering calculations and mechanical design principles.
An interest in robotics, automation, or collaborative robot technology.
