Job description

Set the strategic direction and priorities for the provision of national law enforcement Technical Skills Learning by building and maintaining effective relationships internally and externally at all levels of law enforcement and multi-agency working. Using best evidence design, develop and deliver Technical Skills Learning interventions ensuring best practise, competence and Professional Standards, whilst leading a complex and diverse team. Work collaboratively with others to diagnose scope, cost and implement effective, efficient and innovative learning solutions that make a positive impact on policing and other agencies. Accountable for a large portfolio of Technical Skills Learning interventions across law enforcement agencies ensuring accreditation processes, needs analysis, programme design, delivery, evaluations and licensing implementation and delivery are all delivered to agreed specifications.

Person specification

Some of your responsibilities will include:

Lead the design, development and delivery of a complex portfolio of Technical Skills Learning events within a safe learning environment, across ranks and roles, ensuring learning content meets current legislation and guidance
Lead, define and shape the strategic direction and priorities of the respective Technical Skills Learning Team. Lead change and continuous improvement in the quality of service and products developed, delivered and embedded in national learning programmes.
Lead the engagement with frontline policing at all levels to share College Technical Skills Learning products and promote the required standard. Oversee quality assurance processes of licenced Technical Skills Learning products and manage the national rollout of new programmes, providing the necessary support to ensure standards are met.

To be successful in this role youll need:

Degree or equivalent level 6 in a relevant subject (Learning, Education, Leadership, Policing) and/or extensive equivalent experience.
Meet the Police Sector Standard for the Training of Trainers: Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS Level 4) or NVQ Level 4 Diploma in Learning and Development or equivalent.
Experienced and current Assessor competent to the Police Sector Standard for the Training of Assessors; developing to gain competence as Internal Verifier

serving police officers substantive in the rank of Chief Inspector or those officers suitably qualified for temporary promotion in the rank of Inspector.
