North West Cancer Research are the only charity dedicated to putting our region’s cancer needs first, funding pioneering research and education to tackle the cause, improve the care and find the cure for cancer.

North West Cancer Research want to meet the most driven and ambitious retailers out there! We’re looking for just the right person to recruit and lead the team in our brand new Poynton shop. As well as the above salary, we can offer 25 days paid holiday plus bank holiday entitlement.

Job Purpose:

To recruit and lead a team of volunteers who, with your support, will:

· Deliver an exceptional retail offer to engage support from the local community

· Maximise the sales & profitability of the shop, achieving agreed budgets

· Provide unrivalled customer and donor service

· At all times represent NWCR professionally and positively, embodying the charity’s values

Key Responsibilities:

· Play a key role in all aspects of setting up a new NWCR shop

· Ensure that the shop is adequately staffed with volunteers to maintain service levels and turnover

· Foster an inclusive culture, putting diversity at the heart of recruitment and taking a ‘zero tolerance’ approach to all forms of prejudice

· Achieve agreed income targets including sales & Gift Aid

· Effectively manage and develop Deputy Shop Manager

· Understand and work to NWCR standards regarding stock management, visual merchandising & pricing

· Take the lead in providing a happy, safe working environment for all; responsible for ensuring compliance with H&S policies and procedures

· Keep safe all NWCR property (including cash) and ensure financial reporting processes are completed

· Enhance the charity’s reputation by acting as an ambassador for NWCR; ensuring all donations are gratefully received and brilliant customer service is embedded throughout the team

· Attend regular meetings without disruption to trading

· Undertake additional duties outside listed key responsibilities, within the team and across the charity, as reasonably required

Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

· Demonstrable experience of leading and managing a team

· Previous retail experience in either a charity or commercial setting

· Proven drive & ability to meet or exceed targets

· Tendency to self-motivate and assume responsibility, organizing yourself and others

· Basic IT literacy and numeracy skills as well as the ability to understand and interpret basic financial reports

· Experience of new shop opening is desirable

Additional requirements:

· Proof of your eligibility to work in the UK

· DBS check (to be undertaken once the role is offered and accepted)

· Some local travel requirements (for team meetings / training etc.)

Pay: £26,764.00 per year

Stockport SK12 1NJ: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
