Digital Engineering Manager Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C
As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Main Civil Works Section.
What will you do?
This is an opportunity to join one of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes – Sizewell C – a once-in-a-generation clean energy project that will help power over 6 million homes for decades to come.
Working within the Civil Works Alliance (a partnership between Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O'Rourke), you'll lead the digital engineering strategy across major Design & Build packages, driving modern digital delivery and supporting the successful delivery of one of Europe's largest infrastructure projects.
As Digital Engineering Manager, you'll provide technical leadership across design management, BIM and digital engineering, ensuring robust digital processes, consistent data management and industry-leading ways of working are embedded throughout the project lifecycle. Working closely with engineering, design, construction and supply chain teams, you'll play a key role in delivering a digital-by-default approach that supports safer, smarter and more efficient construction.
- Leading the implementation of digital engineering and BIM strategies across Design & Build packages
- Driving the adoption of ISO 19650 and industry best practice for digital design management
- Developing and implementing digital workflows, processes and BIM Execution Plans (BEPs)
- Managing and leading the Design & Build BIM Coordination team, overseeing model federation, clash detection and design assurance activities
- Working closely with Design Managers, Project Information Managers and supply chain partners to improve design quality and digital delivery
- Supporting the development of model-based workflows that enable 4D planning, digital construction and accurate quantity take-offs
- Ensuring digital deliverables meet project requirements and support downstream construction activities
- Developing automated processes, reporting tools and digital solutions to improve project efficiency
- Supporting the replication and continuous improvement of proven delivery methods from Hinkley Point C
- Coaching and developing digital capability across project teams while promoting innovation and continuous improvement
What are we looking for?
- Extensive experience in Digital Engineering, BIM Management or Digital Design Management within major infrastructure or construction projects
- Strong understanding of ISO 19650, BIM standards and information management
- Experience managing multidisciplinary digital engineering or BIM coordination teams
- Proven experience implementing digital processes across large infrastructure programmes
- Strong knowledge of model federation, clash detection, design assurance and BIM coordination
- Experience using digital engineering platforms and common data environments
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills
- Experience working within Design & Build environments is highly desirable
- Knowledge of modern methods of construction and digital transformation initiatives would be advantageous
- Experience within nuclear or other highly regulated industries would be beneficial, but not essential
