Apprentice Light Vehicle Technician

At Vertu Volvo Taunton, we're looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Apprentice Light Vehicle Technician to join our expert team and train with one of the world's most prestigious automotive brands.

This is an exciting opportunity to earn while you learn, gaining hands-on experience in a busy Volvo workshop while working towards a nationally recognised qualification. You'll receive industry-leading training, develop valuable technical skills, and build a career with one of the UK's largest motor retailers.

About the Role

As an Apprentice Light Vehicle Technician, you'll work alongside experienced technicians, learning how to inspect, service, maintain and repair a wide range of Volvo passenger vehicles to the highest standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

Carrying out vehicle servicing and maintenance tasks
Performing vehicle health checks and visual inspections
Assisting with repairs and diagnostic work
Completing workshop documentation accurately
Learning from experienced System Technicians on complex repairs and fault finding
Delivering exceptional workmanship and customer service that reflects the Volvo brand

What We're Looking For

We're seeking individuals who are eager to learn and have a genuine interest in the automotive industry. The ideal candidate will be:

Passionate about cars and vehicle technology
Enthusiastic, motivated and committed to developing new skills
A strong team player with a positive attitude
Detail-oriented with excellent practical skills
Keen to build a long-term career in the motor industry

Entry Requirements

You will need:

GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above, or equivalent)
One additional GCSE at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent)

Training and Development

As part of your apprenticeship, you will:

Complete a manufacturer-accredited qualification up to Level 3 in Automotive Repair
Receive specialist Volvo training at the manufacturer's training centre
Attend block-release training modules, which will include occasional overnight stays
Gain practical experience working alongside highly skilled Volvo technicians
Develop the skills and knowledge needed to become a qualified technician
