What You’ll Be Doing
Every day is different, but your role focuses on empowering independence, choice, and dignity:

Enable people to make their own choices and live life in a way that feels right for them
Develop, plan, and facilitate a wide range of meaningful building-based and community activities tailored to individual interests and goals
Proactively identify and develop new opportunities that reflect people's interests, goals, and aspirations, including volunteering, work experience, employment, education, and community-based activities.
Support people to develop new skills, increase confidence, and achieve outcomes that are important to them
Use your creativity and initiative to design engaging sessions based around areas such as IT, sports, cookery, arts and crafts, health and wellbeing, and community engagement
Promote health, safety, and wellbeing while respecting people’s decisions
Implement support plans and contribute to reviews, ensuring activities remain meaningful and outcome-focused
Maintain accurate records and complete communication, training, and support documentation using IT systems
Work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues to provide high-quality, person-centred support
Support individuals who may occasionally display behaviours of concern, using positive and proactive approaches to maintain engagement and wellbeing
Build independence step by step, so people gain new skills and self-belief
Keep accurate records, complete communication, training, and support documentation using IT systems and follow safeguarding practices to ensure everyone is safe and supported

Who you are
You’re passionate about standing alongside learning disabled adults and supporting them to live life their way. You’ll bring:

A proactive and person-centred approach, with the ability to independently identify, develop, and coordinate new opportunities based on individual preferences and aspirations. This may include supporting people to access new activities, volunteering placements, work experience opportunities, or paid employment where this aligns with their goals and ambitions.
Strong initiative and the ability to work confidently both independently and as part of a team
Confidence using IT systems for communication, record keeping, and training purposes
An interest or skills in areas such as IT, sports, cookery, arts and crafts, music, or other creative activities
Experience working in social care or learning disability services is desirable, particularly in planning and facilitating meaningful activities, implementing support plans, and promoting person-centred approaches; however, your attitude, values, and commitment to supporting people to achieve their goals are equally important.
Patience, resilience, and confidence supporting people who may occasionally display behaviours of concern
A willingness to undertake the Care Certificate or equivalent qualification if not already achieved
A full UK driving licence is desirable

Working Pattern

This role is predominantly worked Monday to Friday, with typical hours of 9:30am to 3:30pm. However, flexibility is essential as you may occasionally be required to start as early as 7:30am or finish as late as 5:00pm to support individuals with specific activities, appointments, work placements, or community opportunities.

In addition, you will be required to work one weekend day (either Saturday or Sunday) per month to support people to access social, leisure, and community activities that are important to them.
