Westerdale South are looking for an enthusiastic Mental Health Nurse to join the team.

In this role, the successful candidate will improve the lives of those with mental ill health by minimising the impact of their condition through delivery of excellent services. You will be compassionate in meeting the needs of patients and be professionally accountable and responsible for patient care, undertaking a range of clinical/therapeutic interventions. You will act as named nurse to patients. In addition, you will facilitate the development of others within the team and to support student nurses as well as be responsible for the day to day running of the ward. At all times, you will promote a positive image of mental health services for other people and the wider Trust.
Westerdale South is a 14 bedded, mixed sex environment for assessment and treatment for patients with an organic illness.
Your main duties will include:
- Maintaining patients' dignity, privacy and safety at all times. Assessing risk
- Adhering to mental capacity and mental health act.
- Supporting patients who can present with behaviour's that challenge using both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment plans.
- Maintaining high professional standards.
- Delivering and planning evidenced based care in collaboration with the patient, families and wider MDT.
- Assessing patient need and delivering appropriate and timely interventions.
- Safe administration and storage of medicines.
The MDT team consists of medical staff, psychology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language services, dietetics and physical health care, due to this we are able to offer a comprehensive assessment of each patient and their individual needs.
Daily MDT report outs and discussions aid the holistic approach to our care on Westerdale South and contribute to the effective treatment and management of each patient, whilst considering discharge planning throughout their in-patient journey.
