The role
We are looking for a practical and enthusiastic Quality & Compliance Engineer to join our electronics manufacturing business in Lancaster.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone already working within quality or manufacturing who is looking to take the next step in their career and develop into a role with greater responsibility.
Previous electronics manufacturing experience is not essential, but would be an advantage. Training will be provided to give you a good understanding of our products, manufacturing processes, workmanship standards and relevant electronics quality requirements.
You will also be supported by an external ISO consultant, along with a structured handover from an existing member of staff.
This is not a purely desk-based role. We want someone who maintains a visible presence on the production floor, speaks with employees, observes how work is carried out and helps ensure that our quality systems are reflected in day-to-day manufacturing.
What you'll be doing
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and maintaining our ISO 9001 & ISO14001 Quality Management System.
- Carrying out internal audits and following actions through to completion.
- Supporting external ISO and customer audits.
- Managing non-conformances, corrective actions and recurring quality issues.
- Investigating customer complaints and product returns.
- Supporting root-cause investigations and 8D reports where required.
- Raising and following up supplier quality issues.
- Maintaining controlled quality documentation and records.
- Monitoring quality KPIs, including rejects, rework, scrap and customer complaints.
- Maintaining calibration records for inspection and test equipment - as well as organising routine maintenance for company equipment.
- Auditing areas such as traceability, ESD, workmanship and record keeping.
- Supporting IPC workmanship and inspection standards.
- Supporting training and competency records for quality-critical activities.
- Helping maintain general compliance records and activities relating to Health & Safety and fire safety, including inspections, checks, actions and documentation.
- Promoting good quality and compliance practices throughout the business.
As your knowledge and confidence develop, we would expect you to take increasing ownership of the Quality Management System and wider compliance activities.
Working with Production and Engineering
You will receive training and practical exposure to our manufacturing equipment and processes so that you understand what each process does, what acceptable output looks like and what quality risks may be associated with it.
This knowledge will help you carry out meaningful audits, investigate quality issues and work effectively with our Engineering and Production teams.

Training and development
Training will be provided in areas including electronics assembly, soldering, IPC workmanship standards, product inspection, testing and traceability.
