About our DDaT Services team
At Wiltshire Police, we're transforming policing through Digital, Data and Technology. We recognise that DDaT is no longer simply an enabler of policing; it is a strategic capability at the heart of how we protect communities, empower our workforce and deliver better public services. As we evolve from a traditional ICT function into a modern, user-centred DDaT organisation, we're embracing cloud technologies, automation, AI, data and digital innovation to create smarter, more connected and resilient services. Join us at the start of an ambitious transformation, where you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of digital policing, work with emerging technologies, influence meaningful change and build a rewarding career that makes a real difference to our organisation and the communities we serve.
About the role
As a Senior Developer (Blue Prism), you will help shape the future of digital policing by designing, building and improving intelligent and robotic process automation (RPA) solutions that transform how services are delivered. Working within a multidisciplinary DDaT environment, you will develop robotic process automations, integrations and AI-enabled solutions that reduce manual effort, improve user experience and create capacity for higher-value activities. This is an exciting opportunity to drive innovation, accelerate digital transformation and deliver measurable operational benefits that support frontline policing and better public services.
What you will be doing
Design, develop and enhance secure, scalable and resilient automation solutions using Blue Prism and complementary automation technologies.
Build robotic process automations that streamline business processes, improve efficiency and reduce manual workload across the organisation.
Work closely with Service Owners, Business Analysts, Architects and operational teams to identify, assess and deliver automation opportunities.
Develop integrations between Blue Prism, enterprise applications, cloud services and line-of-business systems to enable end-to-end automation.
Apply secure-by-design principles, governance controls and development standards throughout the automation lifecycle.
Support the continuous improvement of digital services through intelligent automation, AI-enabled capabilities and process optimisation.
Promote the reuse of automation components, objects, frameworks and development patterns to accelerate delivery and reduce technical debt.
Contribute to the growth of automation capability across DDaT by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues and championing modern automation practices
About you and your experience
Experience designing, developing and supporting robotic process automation solutions using Blue Prism or comparable enterprise RPA platforms.
Experience developing workflow automations, system integrations and digital solutions that deliver measurable operational and business benefits.
A strong understanding of automation methodologies, process improvement and modern digital delivery practices.
Experience applying governance, security, privacy and compliance requirements within automation and enterprise technology environments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse business processes and identify automation opportunities.
A passion for innovation, continuous improvement, intelligent automation and AI-enabled technologies.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and translate business needs into technical solutions.
ITIL 4 Foundation certification and Blue Prism Developer certification (or equivalent RPA certification), with a commitment to continuous professional development
