Job Description – Trainee Production Assistant

Purpose of the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly organised and motivated individual to join our busy engineering office as a Trainee Production Assistant.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is bright, quick to learn and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. The role offers exposure to many aspects of manufacturing administration and production support, providing excellent opportunities for personal development and progression.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will support the day-to-day running of the business by undertaking a wide variety of duties, including:
- Answering customer telephone calls and directing enquiries appropriately.
- Providing excellent customer service and assisting with customer requests.
- Processing customer orders and updating internal systems.
- Assisting with production planning and scheduling activities.
- Preparing job packs and production documentation.
- Supporting order administration from receipt through to dispatch.
- Producing and maintaining COSHH documentation and associated records.
- Assisting with packing and preparing customer orders for shipment.
- Filing, scanning and maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Liaising with production departments to ensure information is up to date.
- Supporting stock control and purchasing activities when required.
- Carrying out general administrative duties to support the wider team.
- Undertaking additional tasks and projects as required by the business.
Person Specification
Essential
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Bright, enthusiastic and willing to learn.
- Able to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Positive attitude with a flexible and proactive approach.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Desirable
- Previous administration or customer service experience.
- Experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of production planning or quality documentation.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
