We are looking for a skilled and versatile Engraver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality engraved products using manual rotary engraving machines, computerised rotary engraving machines and laser engraving equipment.
This is a hands-on role requiring excellent attention to detail, accuracy and a strong understanding of different engraving techniques and materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate manual rotary engraving machines to produce accurate, high-quality engraved items
- Set up and operate computerised rotary engraving machines
- Prepare, position and secure materials correctly before engraving
- Operate laser engraving and cutting machines, selecting appropriate settings for different materials
- Produce personalised and bespoke engraving to customer specifications and repetative work to business and construction sector
- Prepare artwork, lettering, logos and layouts using appropriate computer software adobe illustrator / sign lab software
- Check proofs and machine files carefully before production
- Select suitable cutters, tooling, speeds and depths for different materials and applications
- Work with a wide range of materials including metals, plastics, acrylics, wood, glass and other substrates
- Carry out quality checks to ensure finished products meet required standards
- Clean, maintain and carry out basic troubleshooting of engraving equipment
- Keep machinery, tools and the work area clean, organised and safe
- Meet production deadlines while maintaining a consistently high standard of workmanship
- Assist with other aspects of sign making in other departments
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in engraving or a similar precision manufacturing role
- Practical experience using manual rotary engraving machines
- Experience operating computerised rotary engraving machines
- Experience using laser engraving machines
- Good computer skills and the ability to prepare or adapt artwork for engraving
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong eye for accuracy
- Good understanding of materials and how they respond to different engraving processes
- A methodical and patient approach to work
- The ability to interpret drawings, layouts and customer specifications
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple jobs
- A commitment to producing high-quality finished work
Personal Qualities
We are looking for someone who is reliable, practical, precise and creative, with pride in their workmanship. You should be comfortable working independently, managing your own workload and working as part of a busy production team.
Experience with signage, trophies, plaques, awards, industrial engraving or personalised products would be an advantage.
