Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Butcher/Meat Cutter to join our dynamic retail store team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing, cutting, and packaging high-quality meats to meet customer specifications and ensure food safety standards. Your expertise will help deliver fresh, delicious products that delight our customers and uphold our commitment to excellence. This position offers an engaging environment where culinary skill, attention to detail, and a dedication to food safety come together to create an exceptional experience for both team members and patrons.

Duties

Select and prepare cuts of meat according to customer requests and established recipes
Use specialized butchery tools and equipment safely and efficiently to cut, trim, and portion meats
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, tools, and equipment in compliance with food safety regulations
Ensure all meat products are stored at proper temperatures and properly labeled for freshness and traceability
Assist in inventory management by receiving deliveries, inspecting quality, and rotating stock appropriately
Follow all food safety protocols diligently to prevent contamination and ensure product quality
Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals while maintaining high standards of quality

Skills

Extensive knowledge of food production processes, especially butchery techniques
Prior culinary or restaurant experience with a focus on food preparation and meat cutting
Strong understanding of food safety standards and proper sanitation procedures
Experience in food handling within a kitchen or food service environment is highly desirable
Ability to operate various butchery tools, knives, slicers, and other kitchen equipment safely
Excellent attention to detail with a focus on precision in cutting and portioning meats
Good physical stamina for standing long hours, lifting heavy loads, and performing repetitive tasks

Requirements

Previous experience working as a butcher, meat cutter or in a similar food preparation role.
Strong knife-handling and meat-cutting skills.
Good understanding of meat preparation, portioning and trimming.
Knowledge of food hygiene and safe food-handling practices.
