Full job description

TDK is a supplier to some of the most diverse, technology based and original equipment manufacturers worldwide including global organisations within the Industrial, Medical and Test & Measurement markets.

We are looking for a proactive and commercially focused Buyer to join our Supply Chain team. You will be responsible for sourcing materials and components, managing supplier relationships, controlling costs, and ensuring material availability to support production and customer requirements. Working closely with suppliers and internal teams, you will play a key role in delivering the best balance of quality, cost, and lead time while supporting continuous improvement across the supply chain.

The main duties and responsibilities of this role are:

Manage supplier relationships to achieve quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
Create and analyse RFQs, negotiate pricing, and implement cost-saving initiatives.
Source and onboard new suppliers to support business requirements.
Monitor supplier performance and drive improvements where required.
Raise and manage purchase orders using ERP systems.
Ensure material availability through effective inventory management and planning.
Support supply chain initiatives including Kanban, consignment stock, and blanket order agreements.
Investigate material shortages and stock discrepancies, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
Support engineering changes and change control activities through Omnify and ERP systems.
Communicating supply risks and mitigation plans.
Support import and customs processes, including commodity codes and freight forwarder enquiries.
Produce reports and data analysis to support decision-making and continuous improvement projects.

Working week: Monday – Thursday 07:30 – 16:30 / Fridays 07:30 – 12 noon.

Skills required:

Experience in a Buyer, Purchasing, Procurement, or Supply Chain role.
Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
Experience managing RFQs and supplier quotations.
Good understanding of inventory control and material planning.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

Desirable Skills

Experience with ERP systems, preferably ERP LN.
Knowledge of Omnify or engineering change control processes.
Understanding of import/export processes and customs compliance.
Experience within a manufacturing environment.

Salary: from £29,992

Pay: From £29,992.00 per year
