Salary: Competitive
Hours: Monday- Friday 7:00am-16:00pm and one in three Saturdays 7:00am-11:00am

At Grundon, we are on the lookout for a dynamic, passionate, and driven Depot Manager to join our team based in Bishops Cleeve.

Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission by leading the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of the depot's waste collection operations. You will be responsible for managing depot resources and leading operational teams to achieve performance objectives, ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation and the Company's Goods Vehicle Operator's Licence, and deliver all customer collections on schedule.

What will you do

Inspire, lead and develop a high-performing team, creating a positive culture where people feel valued, supported and motivated to succeed.
Oversee recruitment, onboarding, induction and ongoing development, ensuring every new team member has the best possible start.
Manage employee performance, attendance, probationary reviews and employee relations matters fairly and consistently, working closely with the People team where appropriate.
Encourage open communication through regular team meetings and toolbox talks, promoting collaboration, continuous improvement and shared success.
Manage bonus and incentive schemes accurately, ensuring transparency, fairness and compliance with company processes.
Build lasting relationships with customers, delivering exceptional service while supporting business growth through contract renewals and tender opportunities.
Lead the day-to-day operation of the depot, ensuring resources, people and processes work together efficiently to deliver outstanding operational performance.
Ensure drivers' hours, transport operations and all legal documentation are managed in full compliance with current legislation and company standards.
Champion a proactive health and safety culture by ensuring incidents are reported, investigated and followed through with effective corrective actions.
Work closely with Fleet and Workshop teams to ensure vehicles are safe, compliant, well maintained and available to support operational requirements.
Take ownership of depot budgets, monitoring financial performance, controlling costs and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
Coordinate third-party haulage providers, ensuring contractors meet all legal, safety and operational requirements.

About You

GCSE/NVQ qualifications (or equivalent) and a CPC qualification.
Proven leadership experience in an operational environment, ideally within the waste management sector, with a strong track record of improving performance, driving continuous improvement, and delivering outstanding customer service.
Excellent people management skills, with experience in recruitment, employee relations, coaching, performance management, and developing high-performing teams that consistently achieve results.
Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to manage budgets, control costs, analyse operational performance, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills, combined with confident decision-making, good IT skills, a sound understanding of relevant legislation, and knowledge of local operational requirements.
A full, clean UK driving licence is essential.
An LGV Class 2 licence is desirable but not essential.
