To provide a professional, responsive and accurate payroll service to clients, ensuring all payrolls are
processed in accordance with agreed service level agreements and statutory requirements, and that accurate
payroll reports are provided to clients within the agreed timescales
Key responsibilities
Ensure that all client payrolls are complete as required to meet clients’ deadlines, ensuring accuracy
and high levels of service delivery at all times
- Process weekly/monthly payrolls from start to finish, including starters, leavers, and changes to pay
and hours
- Set up new payroll schemes as required and ensure all authorities and on-line access rights are in
place
- Calculate and apply statutory payments and deductions (SSP, SMP, SPP, student loans,
apprenticeship levy etc.) in line with current legislation
- Prepare and submit Real Time Information (RTI) returns to HMRC, including Full Payment
Submissions (FPS) and Employer Payment Summaries (EPS)
- Administer auto-enrolment pensions, including assessments, opt-outs, and contributions, and liaise
with pension providers
- Respond to employee and client payroll queries by phone and email in a timely, professional manner
- Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records (holiday, sickness, maternity/paternity, salary
sacrifice, etc.)
- Support with year-end processes, including P60s, P11Ds, and final year-end declarations
- Assist with payroll-related compliance tasks (e.g. CIS returns, PAYE reconciliations) where required
- Abide by statutory and company regulations regarding Money Laundering, Proceeds of Crime, Fire,
Health & Safety, Security, Data protection and confidentiality of information in order to protect clients
and the firm
- Stay up to date with changes in legislation

Key Skills
Experience using payroll software, preferably BrightPay- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance and statutory payments
- Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to resolving queries
- High level of integrity and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential payroll information

- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Ability to plan, prioritise and manage workload effectively to meet payroll deadlines
- Ability to work accurately and calmly under pressure
- A proactive and flexible approach to work
- Proficient in Excel
Main Tasks
- Obtain, validate and process payroll data accurately and efficiently, ensuring payrolls are completed
within agreed client deadlines
- Prepare and submit Real Time Information (RTI) and Employer Payment Summary (EPS)
submissions in accordance with HMRC requirements and statutory deadlines
- Prepare and issue payroll documentation, including P45s and other relevant payroll forms, ensuring
these are completed accurately and on time
- Set up and administer client pension schemes, ensuring compliance with relevant requirements
- Set up new payroll clients in accordance with statutory requirements and the Company’s procedures
- Respond to client payroll queries promptly and professionally, providing clear and accurate
information
- Provide payroll-related training and support to clients and colleagues as required
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client payroll records and documentation
- Complete client auto-enrolment duties, including re-enrolment and re-declaration of compliance,
where required
- Keep up to date with relevant payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and pension regulations
Level of qualifications
Minimum of 2 years payroll experience- Minimum 3 A-levels (or equivalent) at grade A to C
- Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) with Maths level 7 or above and English level 6 or above
