Night Auditor -DoubleTree by Hilton York
About the Role
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and highly organised Night Auditor to join the Nights team at DoubleTree by Hilton York.
This is a varied overnight role combining the responsibilities of a traditional Night Auditor with some Night Porter duties. You will play an important part in ensuring the hotel operates smoothly and safely throughout the night, providing a warm and professional service to our guests while completing the hotel's night audit and financial procedures.
You'll be comfortable working independently, taking responsibility and dealing confidently with a wide range of guest requests and operational situations during the night.
What You'll Be Doing
As our Night Auditor, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing a warm, friendly and professional welcome to guests throughout the night.
- Completing guest check-ins and check-outs and assisting with late arrivals and early departures.
- Completing the Night Audit accurately and ensuring all required procedures, postings, reports and checks are completed.
- Checking guest accounts and ensuring transactions and documentation are processed correctly.
- Handling cash, floats, banking, keys and other hotel security procedures in line with company standards.
- Dealing with late cancellations, room releases and out-bookings when required.
- Liaising with Reception and other departments to ensure an effective handover between the night and day teams.
- Responding to guest enquiries, requests and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Assisting guests with luggage and porterage when required.
- Arranging taxis or other transport and providing local information to guests.
- Preparing and serving simple refreshments for guests when required.
- Carrying out regular security and safety checks throughout the hotel and reporting any concerns, hazards or maintenance issues.
- Monitoring the hotel during the night and responding appropriately to incidents, emergencies or guest concerns.
- Ensuring hotel public areas remain clean, tidy, safe and welcoming throughout the night, carrying out light cleaning and tidying duties where required.
- Following all left-luggage, cash-handling and key-security procedures.
- Being fully aware of hotel facilities, services, opening times and current activities so that accurate information can be provided to guests.
- Supporting the smooth running of the hotel overnight and assisting the wider Nights team wherever required.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine passion for delivering excellent guest service.
- Is confident, approachable and professional when dealing with guests.
- Is comfortable working night shifts.
- Can work independently, use initiative and remain calm under pressure.
- Is organised and has strong attention to detail, particularly when working with financial information and completing the Night Audit.
- Is comfortable balancing reception and administrative responsibilities with practical duties around the hotel.
- Has good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Is reliable, flexible and able to work effectively as part of a small overnight team.
- Is comfortable using computer systems and learning hotel systems and procedures.
Previous experience within a hotel reception, night audit, front office or night porter role would be advantageous, although training can be provided to the right candidate.
