The role:

As a Health Care Support Worker within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate, person-centred care to patients while supporting a skilled and dedicated nursing team. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will contribute to a safe, supportive and high-quality care environment. This role offers the opportunity to develop your clinical skills through structured training and ongoing development. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Princess Royal Maternity Hospital
11.55-hour shifts on a rotational basis
Part-time, permanent
Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours

Key responsibilities:

Support patients with activities of daily living, ensuring dignity, comfort and independence
Assist Registered Nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality patient care
Maintain accurate and timely records, reporting any changes in patients’ physical or emotional condition
Build positive and empathetic relationships with patients, relatives and colleagues
Ensure safe working practices and adhere to all policies, procedures and confidentiality requirements
Contribute to the smooth running of the ward through effective use of resources, stock control and housekeeping
Participate in training, development and competency programmes to enhance skills and knowledge

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Caring and compassionate approach, ideally with experience in a healthcare or caring environment
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills
Ability to undertake delegated tasks and work efficiently in a busy, fast-paced environment
Willingness to complete in-house training and competency-based development programmes
Awareness of health, safety and confidentiality principles within a clinical setting
Self-motivated, reliable and committed to delivering high standards of patient care
