Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Safety Officer to oversee health and safety protocols within our organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing safety procedures, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. This role is vital in fostering a safe working environment and preventing accidents or injuries. The Safety Officer will also provide training and support to staff, promoting a culture of safety awareness across all departments.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies in accordance with legal requirements.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments across all operational areas.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, or near-misses to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed reports on safety performance, incidents, and compliance status.
- Organise and deliver safety training sessions for employees at all levels.
- Maintain up-to-date records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports.
- Ensure the organisation adheres to all relevant health and safety legislation and standards.
- Act as the point of contact for external safety audits and inspections.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging staff through awareness campaigns and ongoing communication.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in health and safety management or a similar role.
- Certification in first aid is highly desirable.
- Strong report writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise documentation.
- Proficiency in root cause analysis techniques to identify underlying issues behind incidents.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with staff at all levels and external agencies.
- Knowledge of current health and safety legislation applicable within the UK workplace environment.
