Cheesemonger – St Andrews, 8-hour Contract (Part-Time)
Mellis Cheese is an Edinburgh-based artisan business renowned for its premium cheeses, charcuterie, sundries, and alcohol. With six retail shops across the UK, a robust restaurant supply chain, and monthly exports to Europe, we are dedicated to supporting local and international farmers and artisans.
We are looking for a new cheesemonger to join our small team at St Andrews. There will be a mixture of 4, 6 and 8.5-hour shifts. We have an 8-hour contract available, with opportunity for additional shifts in busier periods such as Summer and the Festive Period. If you’re enthusiastic about food and beverage and have a flair for attentive customer service, we would love to hear from you.
What will the responsibilities include?
- Cutting and wrapping cheese – all training will be provided
- Providing a premium service to our loyal customers assisting with product recommendations and pairings
- Tasting, overall cheese care and stock rotation of provisions
- General cleaning tasks to ensure shop standards are maintained
A few things we ask of you:
- Enthusiasm for the world of F&B and to learn about cheese (no previous knowledge is required, however it is an advantage)
- Flexible availability across days/hours a week – please discuss your availability further with the hiring manager at interview
· Must be available to work over the festive period up to and including Christmas Eve
- Previous retail and/or hospitality experience is desirable
- An energy for providing exceptional customer service
- A self-starter and team player you’ll enjoy working as part of a small team
- Proof of right to live and work in the UK

Interview process – what to expect:
We aim to review applications within 3-5 to working days. If you are selected, we will arrange an introductory online interview. You should expect to discuss your relevant work experience and interest in the role. If successful, second stage interviews will be held on sight with Retail Manager.
