The Heritage Bakery is a SALSA-certified artisan bakery based in Wantage, proudly supplying high-quality breads and baked goods to wholesale and retail customers across Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Berkshire and Northamptonshire.
As our wholesale customer base continues to grow, we are looking for a reliable and flexible Delivery Driver to join our team. This is an important role within the business, ensuring our products are delivered safely, professionally and on time to our valued customers.
We are seeking someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in their work and is willing to adapt to the changing requirements of a growing business.
The Role
This is a varied and hands-on position involving deliveries to wholesale customers, supporting bakery operations and assisting with market activities when required.
This position is offered on a zero-hours basis, with shifts offered in line with business requirements, customer orders and seasonal demand. While no minimum number of hours can be guaranteed, there may be opportunities for regular work and additional hours during busy periods.
Some shifts may involve early morning, evening or overnight driving to ensure customers receive the freshest possible products.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently deliver bakery products to customers across various locations
- Load and unload vehicles, ensuring products are handled with care and arrive in excellent condition
- Carry out vehicle checks and maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Plan and follow delivery routes to ensure timely and accurate deliveries
- Provide excellent customer service and act as a positive ambassador for The Heritage Bakery
- Obtain delivery confirmations and accurately complete any required paperwork
- Assist with the set-up and pack-down of markets, events and promotional activities when required
- Support the wider bakery team during busy periods where appropriate
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, reliability and communication
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- A confident and experienced driver
- Holder of a full UK driving licence with no major endorsements or convictions
- Reliable, dependable and punctual
- Highly flexible and willing to support changing delivery schedules, holiday cover, increased customer demand and other business requirements.
- Comfortable with manual handling and heavy lifting
- Organised with strong time-management skills
- Able to work independently and use initiative
- Friendly, professional and customer-focused
- Familiar with Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties (desirable)
- Available to accept shifts at varying times, including early mornings, evenings and overnight deliveries.
- Experience operating a tail lift on a Luton Van would be beneficial, however training will be offered
Working Hours
- Zero-hours contract
- Hours offered according to customer orders, delivery schedules and business requirements
- Working days and start/finish times will vary
- Flexibility is essential as shifts may be offered to cover holiday, sickness, increased customer demand and seasonal peaks.
- Some early morning, evening and overnight working is required
- Additional hours may be available during peak trading periods
