Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist to provide private occupational therapy services to clients across Cheshire East.
This is a flexible opportunity for an Occupational Therapist who enjoys working independently and supporting clients in their own homes and community settings. You may work with adults, older people, children or clients with neurological, physical or rehabilitation needs, depending on your own experience and areas of expertise.
The role is ideal for an OT who already works independently, is looking to develop their private practice, or would simply like to take on additional private clients alongside their existing work.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out comprehensive occupational therapy assessments in clients' homes and community settings.
- Identify clients' functional needs, goals and barriers to independence.
- Develop individualised treatment and rehabilitation plans.
- Support clients with activities of daily living, mobility, independence and participation.
- Assess and recommend appropriate equipment, adaptations and strategies where required.
- Work with families, carers, case managers and other healthcare professionals where appropriate.
- Maintain clear and accurate clinical records in accordance with professional standards.
- Manage your own appointments, caseload and ongoing client communication.
- Provide progress updates or reports where clinically appropriate and agreed with the client or referrer.
Experience and Requirements
We would be interested in hearing from Occupational Therapists with experience in areas such as:
- Neurological rehabilitation
- Older people's rehabilitation
- Musculoskeletal and physical rehabilitation
- Paediatrics
- Community rehabilitation
- Equipment and home adaptations
- Moving and handling
- Functional and daily living assessments
- Case-managed or complex rehabilitation
You do not need to specialise in all of these areas.
Applicants should:
- Be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Occupational Therapist.
- Have appropriate professional indemnity insurance for private practice.
- Have strong communication and clinical reasoning skills.
- Be confident working independently and managing their own caseload.
- Be able to travel to clients within Cheshire East.
About the Opportunity
This is a flexible opportunity rather than a traditional employed clinical post. You will work independently, set your own availability and manage the clients you choose to accept.
You will have the opportunity to receive private occupational therapy enquiries from clients in Cheshire East, helping you develop additional private work without needing to generate every enquiry yourself.
You remain in control of your clinical work, diary and client relationships, while benefiting from additional online exposure and marketing.
Whether you already run a private practice or are looking to start building a private caseload alongside your existing role, we would be pleased to hear from you.
