Secondary Teaching Assistant – Eastbourne

Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, Monday–Friday
Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience
We are currently seeking a Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in the Eastbourne area from September 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or someone with strong experience supporting young people in an educational setting.
The Role
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to secondary-aged pupils
- Support students with their learning and engagement in lessons
- Work closely with teachers and support staff to meet individual needs
- Encourage positive behaviour and help create a safe, inclusive learning environment
- Support pupils with additional learning, behavioural or emotional needs
- Assist with classroom activities and preparation of learning resources
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience working with secondary-aged children or young people
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker or similar
- Confident supporting students with additional needs and/or challenging behaviour
- Patient, proactive and able to build strong relationships
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is desirable, but support can be provided where required
