Nationwide Care Pharmacy is a growing care-home and internet pharmacy providing prescription medication and regular deliveries to care homes and patients across the UK.
We are looking to build a reliable bank team of delivery drivers to support our expanding delivery operation.
This is an ideal opportunity for drivers looking for flexible, ad-hoc work, with opportunities to cover both West Midlands routes and longer-distance UK deliveries.
The Role
As a Bank Pharmacy Delivery Driver, you will be responsible for transporting prescription medication safely, securely and professionally from our pharmacy to care homes, patients and other delivery locations.
Routes will vary depending on operational requirements and may include:
- Birmingham and the wider West Midlands
- Local care-home delivery routes
- Longer-distance UK routes
- Emergency and urgent deliveries
- Additional cover during busy periods, staff holidays and sickness
You may be offered individual shifts, local delivery runs or longer-distance journeys.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect medication from Nationwide Care Pharmacy
- Deliver medication safely, securely and on time
- Follow allocated routes and delivery schedules
- Complete delivery documentation accurately
- Obtain signatures or delivery confirmation where required
- Report failed or unsuccessful deliveries promptly
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
- Handle medication carefully and securely
- Communicate professionally with care-home staff, patients and pharmacy colleagues
- Report delays, incidents or concerns immediately
- Keep your vehicle clean, secure and suitable for pharmacy deliveries
- Follow all company delivery procedures and instructions
About You
We are looking for drivers who are:
- Reliable and punctual
- Professional and presentable
- Friendly and confident when dealing with patients and care-home staff
- Able to work independently
- Organised and able to manage multiple deliveries
- Comfortable using a sat-nav/mobile phone
- Flexible and willing to cover different routes
- Comfortable undertaking both local and longer-distance journeys
- Respectful of patient confidentiality
- Responsible and trustworthy when handling prescription medication
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- No significant driving endorsements or convictions
- Good driving record
- Right to work in the UK
- Good communication skills
- Reliable access to transport for work
- Ability to undertake delivery routes safely and responsibly
Desirable
- Own car/vehicle
- Previous pharmacy, healthcare, care-home or medical delivery experience
- Previous courier or delivery experience
- Experience delivering to care homes
- Good knowledge of Birmingham and the wider West Midlands
- Willingness to undertake longer-distance UK routes
Flexible Bank Working
This is a bank/ad-hoc position, with no guaranteed fixed hours.
We are looking for drivers who can provide availability around their existing commitments.
Depending on our operational requirements, shifts may include:
West Midlands Routes
Local daytime delivery runs covering Birmingham and surrounding areas.
Long-Distance Routes
Longer UK delivery journeys, planned in advance wherever possible.
Additional Cover
Holiday, sickness and peak-period cover, including occasional urgent deliveries.
Reliable drivers who provide regular availability may have the opportunity to receive ongoing work and regular delivery runs.

Because you will be transporting prescription medication, reliability, security, confidentiality and punctuality are essential.
These are not ordinary parcel deliveries. Our medication is often required for care-home residents and patients, so deliveries must be completed accurately, securely and within the required timeframe.
