NHS Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (KMICB) can offer the following exciting new opportunity for a motivated Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional with experience in the field of the Learning Disability/Autism programme wishing to develop their career working within Specialist Mental Health/LDA Assessment and Placements Team (Hosted by KMICB). The successful candidate will be responsible for attending the adult Out of Area Treatment Learning Disability and Autism (LD/A OATS) panels.
The adult LD/A OATs panel decides appropriate treatment pathways for inpatient placement and treatment for the LD/A patient cohort. You will be responsible for overseeing on behalf of KMICB, the care and treatment provided to patients placed by the LD/A OATS panel in a specialist service, to ensure patients are always being offered the right care, at the right time, in the right place, and that care and treatment offered is in line with the LD/A OATS Service Specification. Clinical oversight visits take place on an eight-weekly basis.
The hours are 37.5 per week and Monday to Friday 09.00 – 17.00 hours, though we can offer some flexibility.
The post holder will attend LD/A OATS panels and offer clinical review and challenge to applications ensuring that patients placed via this process are being offered the right care, at the right time, in the right place to meet their needs. This includes ensuring locally commissioned services have been utilised where appropriate.
The post holder will also offer clinical support to Specialist Mental Health/LDA Assessment and Placements Team in regard to concerns, queries or complaints raised in relation to LD/A OATS issues generated or involving patients or placements who are the responsibility of KMICB.
The post holder will also under the direction of the Deputy Head of Mental Health/LDA Specialist Assessments and Placements Team, be responsible for responding to and managing any legal or statutory issues relating to Care Quality Commision (CQC) alerts or safeguarding issues, that are raised in relation to services commissioned by KMICB for this patient cohort.
The post holder will ensure any concerns they identify are reported as per the KMICB or relevant Local Authority processes and procedures to ensure that patients are protected and that statutory authorities are aware.
