Base Location: Unit 2 Weddell Way Brackmills Industrial Estate NN4 7HS
Operational Area: Local and national sites as required

Role Summary
The Traffic Management Operative is responsible for assisting with the safe installation, operation, maintenance, monitoring, and removal of Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) systems on the public highway and private land. All duties must be carried out in line with current Traffic Management legislation, approved codes of practice, National Highway Sector Scheme (NHSS) requirements, and client specifications, ensuring the safety of operatives, road users, pedestrians, and the general public at all times.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out all Traffic Management activities in accordance with current Traffic Management legislation, industry standards, company procedures, and client requirements.
- Assist with the installation, adjustment, maintenance, monitoring, and removal of Temporary Traffic Management systems in line with:
- Traffic Signs Manual Chapter 8
- Approved drawings and layouts
- Site-specific risk assessments and method statements
- Work under the direction of a Supervisor or higher-qualified operative where required, ensuring tasks remain within personal competence and authorisation.
- Assist in maintaining safe traffic and pedestrian flow while minimising disruption to the public.
- Ensure all Traffic Management equipment is:
- Correctly positioned and compliant
- Clean, serviceable, and fit for purpose
- Not obstructing visibility, junctions, or existing traffic signs
- Act as a professional and courteous representative of the company at all times, particularly in public-facing situations.
- Assist with associated duties including equipment preparation, cleaning, filling sandbags, and depot housekeeping.
- Load, unload, transport, and handle equipment safely to prevent damage or injury.
- Drive company vehicles where authorised, in accordance with road traffic law, site rules, and company policies.
Health, Safety & Site Responsibilities
- Comply fully with company Health & Safety policies, Traffic Management legislation, and NHSS requirements.
- Assist in the completion, review, and implementation of dynamic risk assessments and method statements.
- Complete daily vehicle checks prior to use on the public highway and report defects immediately.
- Follow all site-specific rules, inductions, and client safety requirements.
- Assist with site setup, Traffic Management installation, modification, monitoring, and removal.
- Respond appropriately to changing site conditions, including weather or traffic flow, and report concerns to a Supervisor.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, housekeeping, and professionalism.
- Accurately complete all required worksheets and records (paper or electronic).
Qualifications, Competence & Training
- Operatives must hold a minimum LANTRA M1 / M2 qualification, appropriate to the duties being undertaken.
- Further training and progression to higher qualifications may be required depending on operational needs.
- Ongoing training will be provided to support compliance and professional development.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £135.00-£220.00 per day
