Job Summary
We are seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our dynamic veterinary team.
No weekends or out of hours! Our current hours are 9am-5pm, but shifts can be tailored to suit your needs. We can be extremely flexible. Would suit a working parent needing to prioritise family life. If you need to leave in time for school pick up, that can be accommodated.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our animal patients, supporting the veterinary surgeons, and ensuring the well-being of animals and their owners. This position offers an opportunity for professional development within a supportive environment, where your skills and expertise will be valued and utilised. The candidate will be encouraged to pursue advanced training in Surgical Nursing if they are interested in assisting the vet with surgery.
A strong interest in surgery and anaesthesia is a plus. Most of our work is with spay/neuter, but we also see pets for vaccination and health checks.
You should ideally enjoy fast-paced work in a busy environment. The current hourly wage is £15.50, but can be negotiated DOE.
One paid sick day per year, 5.5 days annual leave.
Responsibilities
- Assisting vets during consultations, surgeries, and procedures
- Administering medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinary team
- Preparing patients for surgery including calculating and drawing up drugs, giving premedicants and placing intravenous canulas
- Monitoring anaesthetic and post-operative recovery of animals, ensuring their comfort and safety
- Providing pre- and post-operative care such as suture/staple removal and reviewing post-op check photos/patients
- Maintaining accurate medical records and drug logs in accordance with legal and organisational standards
- Discharging surgical patients
- Ensuring cleanliness and organisation of the clinical environment to uphold hygiene standards
- Educating pet owners on routine care, preventive health measures, and treatment plans
Qualifications
- Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification recognised by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS)
- Proven experience working within a veterinary practice or similar setting is desirable but not essential for recent graduates; training will be provided for all new team members
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Excellent communication skills to liaise confidently with clients and colleagues
- Compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners with a genuine desire to deliver outstanding patient care
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to continuous professional development in line with RCVS standards

Pay: £24,420.00-£35,000.00 per year
