JOB TITLE: IT Manager
RESPONSIBLE TO: Operations Director
HOURS: Full time Mon-Fri 0800 - 1600 – 37.5 hour week
SUMMARY OF THE ROLE: We are looking for an experienced IT Manager to take ownership of our IT function during a period of significant change. You will lead a small internal team, manage a portfolio of outsourced service providers, and act as the primary technical and project lead on the migration of our legacy systems to modern ERP platforms.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who is equally comfortable setting IT strategy, managing supplier relationships, and getting into the detail of a complex systems migration.
Key Responsibilities
Team & People Management
- Manage, mentor, and develop a direct report, setting objectives and supporting their professional growth
- Act as the escalation point for day-to-day IT issues, ensuring timely resolution
- Build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and good documentation practice within the IT function
Outsourced Supplier & Vendor Management
- Manage relationships with outsourced IT service providers (e.g. infrastructure, network, helpdesk, development support), ensuring SLAs and contracts are met
- Act as the primary point of contact between the business and third-party vendors, including ERP suppliers
- Review and negotiate contracts, monitor supplier performance, and manage costs and budgets across the outsourced service estate
- Coordinate the work of multiple suppliers to ensure consistent delivery and avoid duplication or gaps in service
ERP Migration & Legacy Systems
- Own and drive the migration of legacy systems to new ERP platforms, working with shortlisted ERP suppliers to scope, plan, and execute the transition
- Manage data migration, integration, testing, and cutover planning, minimising disruption to business operations
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (finance, operations, sales, etc.) to ensure the new ERP system meets cross-functional needs continuously
- Maintain oversight of the legacy environment during transition, including outsourced support, and eventual decommissioning
- Manage IT project deployment timelines, budgets, risks, and reporting to senior leadership
IT Strategy & Operations
- Develop and maintain the IT roadmap, aligned with business goals
- Own IT budgeting, procurement, and cost control across internal and outsourced resources
- Ensure appropriate IT governance, including data security, backup/disaster recovery, and compliance requirements
- Maintain system documentation and ensure knowledge transfer is not solely dependent on individuals or suppliers
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience managing an IT team and/or outsourced IT service providers
- Hands-on experience with, or strong working knowledge of, C#/.NET-based systems (you don't need to be actively coding, but need to understand the legacy environment well enough to manage its migration)
- Direct experience of an ERP implementation or migration project (e.g. from systems such as Sage, NetSuite, Dynamics 365, SAP, Epicor, Odoo, Sales Force) as either a customer-side lead or project manager
- Strong vendor and contract management skills, including SLA and budget management
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to translate technical detail for non-technical audiences
- Experience managing IT budgets and cost control
Desirable
- Experience with multiple concurrent supplier relationships during a systems transition
- Background in Manufacturing/Field Based Services/ Construction where ERP is core to operations
- ITIL or similar service management framework experience/certification
- Solid understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Prince2, or equivalent)
