The Opportunity
We are looking for an ambitious, creative and commercially minded Marketing, Events & Business Development Executive to help develop and grow two important Comtek-associated membership organisations:
· Deeside Business Forum (DBF) – a leading business network supporting and connecting organisations across North Wales.
· UK Future Connectivity Forum (UKFCF) – a national organisation bringing together leaders from business, technology, Government and Parliament.
This is far more than a conventional marketing or events role. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build relationships with CEOs, senior business leaders, Government Ministers, parliamentarians and senior Government officials, while helping shape the growth, profile and influence of both organisations.
For someone who is ambitious, entrepreneurial, confident with people and commercially aware, the position offers exceptional exposure and strong potential for career development and progression.
The Role
You will take an active role in developing DBF and UKFCF, creating engaging events, growing membership and sponsorship, increasing their public profile and building strong relationships across business and Government.
· Develop and promote the Deeside Business Forum and UK Future Connectivity Forum.
· Plan and coordinate Board meetings for both organisations.
· Create and organise high-profile business and public events across North Wales.
· Organise UKFCF events in London, including its annual conference at the House of Lords.
· Develop creative event concepts, themes and compelling event titles.
· Identify and pursue opportunities to attract new members, partners and sponsors.
· Build relationships with senior business leaders, politicians, Government representatives and other key stakeholders.
· Promote events and organisations through social media, digital marketing and other channels.
· Create marketing content and campaigns to increase awareness, engagement and attendance.
· Support Comtek’s wider marketing initiatives and activities.
· Help organise product launches and other customer-facing events as required.
· Proactively identify new commercial and partnership opportunities that increase the reach and influence of the organisations.
Who We’re Looking For
We are particularly interested in someone with energy, personality, creativity, commercial awareness and ambition. You may already have experience in marketing, events, sales, business development, account management or stakeholder engagement. We are open-minded about background and especially interested in candidates who can demonstrate strong relationship-building skills, commercial instinct and the confidence to engage with senior decision-makers.
A sales or business development background would be a significant advantage, particularly where this has involved winning new customers, developing accounts, building partnerships, generating sponsorship or creating new commercial opportunities.
· Be ambitious, highly motivated and keen to progress.
· Have strong interpersonal skills and a natural ability to build relationships.
· Have experience in sales, business development, marketing, account management or a related commercial role – or demonstrate strong potential in these areas.
· Be commercially minded and comfortable identifying and developing new opportunities.
· Be confident approaching prospective members, sponsors, partners and other organisations.
· Be able to sell the value of membership, sponsorship, partnerships and events.
· Be comfortable speaking with CEOs, senior executives, politicians and Government officials.
· Have strong marketing and social media skills.
· Be creative and able to develop new ideas, campaigns, events and initiatives.
· Be persuasive and confident, both verbally and in writing.
· Be highly organised and capable of managing multiple projects and events.
· Be able to work independently, take ownership and use initiative.
· Have the confidence and professionalism to represent Comtek, DBF and UKFCF at high-profile events.
· Be an excellent team player with a positive and proactive approach.
We are not necessarily looking for someone who has spent their entire career in events. A strong salesperson, account manager or business development professional with excellent organisational skills and an interest in marketing and events could be extremely well suited to the position.
Why This Role Is Different
This position offers exposure and opportunities that would normally be difficult to gain in a traditional marketing, events or sales role. You could be organising a major North Wales business event one week, developing a sponsorship opportunity the next, and helping coordinate a national event involving parliamentarians and Government at the House of Lords shortly afterwards.
You will have genuine scope to introduce your own ideas, develop new initiatives and directly influence the growth of both DBF and UKFCF.
For the right person, this is an opportunity to build an exceptional professional network, develop broad commercial experience and become an important part of two growing and influential organisations.
