Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Chef to join our Nursery team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a keen understanding of food safety and culinary techniques. Hold at least a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate, Level 3 is desirable however onsite training can be provided to the right candidate. As a Chef, you will be responsible for the kitchen within the 43 place Nursery. You will be responsible for creating delicious meals that meet our high standards of quality and presentation, while also ensuring a clean and organised kitchen environment.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications.
- Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and standards.
- Assist in menu planning, including the selection of seasonal ingredients and innovative dishes.
- Responsible in maintaining an organised kitchen, ensuring all equipment is clean and in good working order.
- Ensure efficient meal preparation and service.
- Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and assist with ordering as necessary.
- Training provided for food safety practices.
- Stay updated with Allergens and allergy awareness
- Deliver a cookery/ baking session with a small group of children, supervised with the Nursery practitioners a couple of times throughout the month
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Chef or in a similar role within a Nursery catering environment is desirable
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in the kitchen.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- A passion for culinary arts and creativity in meal preparation.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
