Time to put your stamp on a growing group finance function
You’ve built strong financial controls, led capable teams and know what good looks like when it comes to cash, reporting and commercial discipline. Now you’re looking for the scope to shape a function, influence at group level and gain broader exposure that moves you closer to a future CFO role.
This is that opportunity.
We are working with a successful, investor-backed food group in the search for a Group Financial Controller who can strengthen its financial foundations while helping to prepare the business for its next stage of growth.
This is far more than a role focused on maintaining the numbers. You’ll have the autonomy to simplify processes, improve reporting and build a more effective central finance team.
You’ll also work closely with an experienced CFO who is happy to give you ownership of broader areas and support you in developing your remit.
Cash management will be an immediate priority. You’ll bring greater visibility to short-term liquidity, embed robust cash-flow forecasting and ensure the business makes clear, commercially informed decisions around payments and priorities.
Beyond this, you’ll improve the pace, accuracy and usefulness of group reporting, removing unnecessary legacy activity and creating greater discipline and accountability. With a systems transformation journey also on the horizon, there will be plenty of opportunity to influence how finance operates in the future.
The Group at a Glance
This is an established food group with ambitious plans and the backing to achieve them. Its environment combines the pace and commercial focus of an investor-backed business with the stability of a well-established operation.
The role offers exposure to performance improvement, value creation and strategic decision-making, giving you a broader lens than a traditional Financial Controller position.
You’ll lead a central team spanning group accounting, transactional finance and systems, while working collaboratively with senior finance leaders across the wider business. As the group develops, the scope and influence of this position will grow with it.
Alongside this, they have a flat structure with an appetite for investing that will support them in attaining further growth, giving teams opportunities to progress internally.
What You’ll Bring
To succeed, you’ll:
- Be a qualified chartered accountant with significant Financial Controller-level experience
- Be experienced leading and developing finance teams
- Bring experience from food manufacturing, FMCG or another relevant fast-paced environment
- Have a strong track record across cash management, financial reporting, forecasting and control
- Demonstrate strong financial reporting, systems and numerical capability
Experience within an investor-backed environment, systems transformation or financial reporting tools would be advantageous, although your overall experience and approach will be most of interest.
