Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly analytical and commercially minded Accountant to join our finance team during an exciting period of growth and transformation. The successful candidate will play a key role in financial reporting, stock and manufacturing accounting, process improvement, and systems development.
This role is ideally suited to an individual who enjoys working with large datasets, driving financial accuracy, supporting operational decision-making, and contributing to finance transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare and review account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data across the business
- Support internal and external audits with documentation and analysis
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.
Manufacturing & Stock Accounting
- Manage stock accounting processes, including valuation, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Partner with operations and supply chain teams to ensure financial accuracy across manufacturing processes.
- Monitor inventory movements, cost variances, and production-related financial performance.
- Support the ongoing development and improvement of costing methodologies.
- Investigating financial and operational variances and identifying their underlying causes.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Support implementation of new finance systems and business process improvements.
- Lead or assist with data migrations, reconciliations, and validation during system changes.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, financial controls, and data quality.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance ERP and finance system capabilities.
Data Analysis & Business Support
- Extract, analyse, and interpret large volumes of financial and operational data.
- Develop reporting tools and dashboards to provide actionable insights.
- Support business decision-making through robust financial modelling and analysis.
- Ensure data integrity across finance systems and reporting platforms.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified or Qualified by Experience (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Manufacturing and stock accounting experience.
- Experience of finance system implementations and reconciliations.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate financial information clearly.
Desirable Experience
- Building financial and operational data models.
- ERP development, enhancements, and systems optimisation.
- Experience within a private equity-backed business.
- Power BI, SQL, SEI, or similar business intelligence tools.
- Using AI and automation to improve finance processes and reporting.
- Working across multi-jurisdictional entities and multi-currency reporting
