Join Our Team as a Personal Tax Specialist at Hawthorn Tax
About the Role:
We operate a 4-day week (Mon-Thurs). As a Personal Tax Specialist at Hawthorn Tax, you'll be entrusted with a diverse client portfolio of personal tax clients, giving you the autonomy to manage your workflow and deadlines independently. You'll work under the supervision of a Chartered Tax Adviser. Your role will primarily involve preparing and filing personal tax returns, as well as other ad hoc personal tax related tasks. Depending on experience, you may be required to provide basic tax advice to clients.
Remuneration:
- Annual salary of between £35,000 - £42,000 depending on experience and qualifications

Key Responsibilities:
- Independently manage the personal tax compliance of a portfolio of clients, with a personal touch.
- Research HMRC guidance and tax legislation.
- 60-day CGT on UK property returns.
- Drafting HMRC disclosures.
- Appeal penalties and correction notices.
- Explaining payments due, including on account.
- Contact HMRC by letter and phone, as required.
- Review tax returns prepared by other staff.
Note: Your duties may extend beyond this list, adapting to the evolving needs of our dynamic business.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience in a Personal Tax related role for at least 3 years.
- Experience and/or familiarity with Self Employment pages, Rental income pages, tax residency and FIG, capital gains on property, pension Annual Allowances charges, income and gains on cryptoassets.
- Desirable ATT qualification or similar.
